Fixtures released for 2023 Women & Girls' Indoor Competitions

Wiltshire Cricket are delighted to release the fixtures for the Women and Girls' 2023 Indoor Competitions.  We have had a great amount of interest in the leagues this year, with 14 Ladies teams taking part.  We also have the Women’s Cup competition, U11 and U13 Girls Leagues making this our biggest year of indoor cricket so far!  Of course, with the growing popularity comes some additional challenges when planning the indoor leagues, but hopefully we have been able to structure this winter to best suit as many teams as possible. Where possible, we have tried to consider things such as travel times and total number of fixtures along with many other factors.  Hopefully, these considerations will support each club with their team availability.

Match Fees

Clubs are responsible for collecting their match fees using their usual process and will then be invoiced by Wiltshire Cricket at two points during the winter.  These are likely to be around week 7 and 12.
All Women’s Games (including cup) - £4.00 per player per game

Under 11 & 13 Girls’ Games - £3.50 per player per game

Play-Cricket Website

Please can all clubs to ensure that they have created a Women’s and/or Girls Team on your club’s Play-Cricket website and ensure that scorecards are uploaded to Play-Cricket within 48 hours of the fixture.    I have attached a “step-by step” guide which should come in handy for both the indoor leagues and summer competitions.

Scoresheets

This season, we will be using a scoresheet that allows individual batting & Bowling stats to be recorded, which will look fantastic on your Club’s Play-Cricket website and perhaps support any awards evenings that clubs will host next season.

Fixture Timings

As you will see, we only have 2/3 hours each week depending on the venue, which will allow for 2 or 3 fixtures to be played.  These fixtures can usually be quite tight for time, so please may I ask for each team to plan to arrive at least 15-20 minutes before the start of their fixture.  The toss should take place 5-15 minutes before the start of each match and should be conducted before teams enter the sports hall to ensure a prompt start of the fixture.  Due to the tight schedule, there will be no time to warm-up inside the sports hall so should teams wish to warm-up, then this must be done in a suitable space prior to the fixture start time.

Equipment

Where possible, please bring your own club equipment for the competitions. (Plastic or wooden bats can be used as this will reduce the amount of equipment sharing). Please also bring a spare ball or 2, as indoor environments have a habit of causing an occasional split to the ball.

Ethos

As always, please be considerate of the ethos of the Women’s & Girls Indoor Competitions. Whilst we encourage an element of competition, please also remember that some players may be new to the game and others may be supporting younger players etc. Where possible, the league is designed for “socially competitive” participation, and the knock-out cup competition can be more competitive. These offers will continue to evolve continuously and it’s been brilliant to see all of our Wiltshire clubs working together to provide a brilliant Women’s & Girls Cricket offer! Thank you!

If we can be of any support leading up to the indoor league, please do feel free to contact us. We should have a brilliant winter of indoor activity ahead and I’m really looking forward to seeing this competition get underway. Thank you for everyone’s continued support and enthusiasm – we have a particularly exciting year of Women’s & Girls Cricket ahead!
