District Under 11 Boys

Under 11 Boys is currently the only age group at which we run district cricket. For all older age groups we run area trial matches prior to the start of the county season. District cricket is very important to us at under 11 level because it allows us to identify a large number of prospective county players for future years. It is also an excellent opportunity to get as many children as possible involved in representative cricket.
The process for selecting district squads begins with clubs nominating players from their club to attend a trial date. At this trial day district managers and coaches select their squads who then go on to receive a structured programme of winter coaching.
From 2007 onwards district cricket is going to culminate with festivals being held at the beginning of the season. We have recently held our festivals for 2007 over two days at Dauntsey’s School. These were hugely successful days and excellent opportunities for the under 11 county manager and coach to view a large talent pool of players.
The festival format for district cricket is one that we hope will continue in future years as it is a great way of getting all of the children from all of the districts involved on the same day in a fantastic district spectacle.
