Youth Cricket: County
In Wiltshire we have county age group sides competing all the way through from Under 10 to Under 17 level. We take great pride in our county sides and are very fortunate to have excellent managers and coaches in place at each of the age groups. Without these, the experience of playing for the county would not be the same and it is for this reason that all of our county age group players can really enjoy the experience of representative cricket and feel proud and privileged to represent the county.
The Process for Selection
- All Junior Clubs are contacted by the Performance team for nominations for trials and indoor coaching
- All juniors are seen and players are split between the various winter coaching programmes
- Invitations are then given to players to attend trial fixtures
- Squads are then selected by the County Coach and Manager and all players are contacted
Over recent years the standards of county age group players has been improving and this can be recognised through the improving results we have experienced year on year. A lot of this improvement is down to the excellent coaching that the players receive throughout the winter and so praise must go to Jon Williams, Head of Performance, and the many other coaches who help to deliver the winter coaching programme.
If you have a child that you believe is good enough to play for the County and for whatever reason is not being seen then please contact Steve Silk.
