Umpires' Courses
Within Wiltshire we have recently finished our Umpire's courses for 2006/2007. During January we ran an ACU&S Grade 6 Entry Level course which once attended and completed results in a formal Umpiring qualification through the ACU&S being achieved. This course took place across 4 Saturday's and as such is a fairly intensive course that covers amongst other things:
- All 42 Laws of Cricket
- ECB Directives on Bowling Restrictions
- Helmets and Fielding Restrictions for young players
Due to the nature of this course and the commitment it required from candidates we also ran a shorter course entitled 'Introduction to Umpiring'. This did not result in a formal qualification but was an excellent course for candidates looking to learn more about Umpiring and the rules of the game. In brief the day covered the following:
- Duties and qualities required of an Umpire
- The various forms of dismissal
- Introduction to the laws of Umpiring
- Spirit of Cricket and its Laws
