Umpires
Wiltshire Cricket Board is an ever improving county in terms of our professionalism and the opportunities we offer to all people involved with the game. For this reason workforce development and improved opportunities for groundsmen, umpires and scorers are key objectives for the county. We are committed to improving the standard of umpiring throughout the county and want to see a decrease in the number of Wiltshire youth and senior matches being officiated by non qualified umpires.
Wiltshire Association of Cricket Officials
The ECB has recently formed a new Association of Cricket Officials.
The ECB ACO was established on January 1 2008, with members of the Association of Cricket Umpires and Scorers having voted to join members of the ECB Officials Association in the new organisation.
To ensure that the WCB work with the ECB on meeting targets for the improvement of the game the County Board now have formed a Wiltshire Association of Cricket Officials. This is a fully constituted body that becomes a working arm of the County Board and they are primed with the delivery of courses, the assessment of our current umpires and the organisation of appointment panels both with the West of England Premier League and the Wiltshire County Cricket League. With WACO formed we believe that there will be a dramatic improvement seen in the officiated at all club games. If you would like to become an umpire and are intersted in the courses coming up in 2009 then please complete an application form.
