Groundsmen
Within Wiltshire we have a Facilities Strategy that outlines our aims to improve the quality of pitches and grounds throughout the county. To assist us with this we have a County Groundsmans Association (WGA) who work closely with the county Board to ensure that Wiltshire is moving forward in this area of the game.
Through the WGA we have pitch advisors who are available to assist clubs with the various aspects of groundsmanship. They also work closely with the Wiltshire County Cricket League to ensure that the standard of pitches in the higher divisions are of a suitable standard for the Cricket being played.
The WGA also possesses an ECB/Channel 4 Trailer which is available for loan to clubs with suitably qualified Level 1 Groundsmen wishing to conduct end of season renovations or general maintenance.
In addition to all of these opportunities we have been working more cloely over the past year with both the IOG and WGA to ensure that we begin to increase the number of qualified groundsmen within the county. For this reason we are running Level 1 Part A and B courses during 2007. Therefore, you are looking to obtain a professional groundsman's qualification then please look here for more information.
